The Stamford Canal sale - Lots 19 to 24
Virtual riots stopped some of the lots from being sold as many riparian landowners rightly claimed they had never been paid for the use of the land in the first place! They certainly didn’t want anyone else having access to or owning land that was in-between their fields or that they were using for drainage. The last 6 lots advertised were:-
Lots 19 & 20 east of Molecey Mill towards Market Deeping
Lot 21 land between Thorpe’s Mill and the River Welland
Then selling off the rest of the fixtures and fittings!
Lot 22 the piece of land between the weir and Low Lock
Lot 23 the lock pen and gates of Briggin’s or High Lock
Lot 24 the River Gwash Sluices, Framework and Masonry
