February 2022 - Another month to remember for so many positives.

Play Area
On 6th February 2022, to mark the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, Uffington planted a tree and officially opened the extension to the new play area. Villagers in jovial spirit were welcomed by Chair of the Parish Council, Barrie Brown. After a blessing of the equipment by Fr Aran Beesley, Dean Cornish cut the ribbon, with the help of Liz Bender and Barrie Brown, representatives of the groups who funded the project – The Village Hall, The Somes Trust and the Parish Council. Cllrs Cooke and Trollope Bellew were unable to attend but were thanked for seeing the funding over the finishing line.
 A Cardinal Royal Rowan tree, blessed earlier by Fr Aran was planted by long serving Parish Councillor and farmer Paul Genever. The plaque was unveiled by Gary Waterfall, CBE, Deputy Lieutenant for the County of Lincolnshire who represented Her Majesty. Parish Clerk Katie Turner was thanked for liaising with the contractors and funders. Rob Persani from Rutland and Stamford Sound recorded parts of the ceremony which he later broadcast on his Monday morning programme. The Stamford Mercury took photographs of the stampede to play on the new equipment . Later everyone enjoyed delicious cake and hot chocolate served in Uffington Church as parts of its Snowdrops afternoon. Thank you to EVERYONE in the community who worked together to make this all this possible and enjoyable.

1st March –Shrove Tuesday –Pancakes at UVH 5pm – 7pm. £3 per person, tap and pay on door preferred. All welcome. Gluten free pancakes on request.
12th March – Creative Writing Workshop with author Ros Rendle, suitable for 16+. 10am – 1pm at UVH. Only £10 in advance, includes cake and coffee.

AGM of Uffington Village Hall is planned for Tuesday 17th May at 7.30pm.

SAVE THE DATE.  Saturday 4th June 2022 .To commemorate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee . Events - Uffington Cricket Club is kindly hosting the traditional village afternoon rounders tournament – teams of 9 people. In the evening UVH committee is organising a Ceilidh at Croft Farm- a ticketed bring your own picnic event. Bar available.
