Uffington Speedwatch Group

You may have noticed groups of volunteers in the village conducting speed survey sessions. The volunteers are operating as part of the  Community Speedwatch Scheme that is run in conjunction with Lincolnshire Police and Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership.

The volunteers have  been trained to plan, conduct and file reports on session’s findings,  with the sessions being carried out at points within the village that  have been assessed, agreed and documented as locations where speeding is a specific concern to the community.

The Group’s findings will be  reported to Lincolnshire Police who, when appropriate, will issue  advisory letters to registered owners of vehicles that have exceeded  the legal limits. In addition, the data will be used for the allocation  of resources and general road safety issues.

Speedwatch is not enforcement; it’s about raising awareness of speeding with communities and educating drivers.

There will be no notification of where or when sessions will take place.
