The flash lock at Mill Lane, Tallington

Situated immediately after the Ellis & Everard coal wharf at the corner of Mill Lane, this flash lock kept the mill lane clear of water when not needed, so managing the ford across the lane.

Being wasteful and reducing the depth for boats going up it was replaced by a wooden bridge at some time after 1813.

Lock 6 1850
