WELLAND NAVIGATION to be SOLD by AUCTION

At the Town hall in Stamford, on Monday the 10th day of April 1865, at Two for Three o'clock in the afternoon precisely, by direction of the Corporation of Stamford, with the approbation of the Lords commissioners of her Majesty's Treasury, and subject to the conditions of sale to be then produced, in the following or such other lots as shall then be agreed upon. ALL that FREEHOLD CANAL or NEW CUT, extending from the parish of SAINT GEORGE in STAMFORD to the TONGUE END at MARKET DEEPING, forming valuable Building Ground and aquisitions to the Estates through which the same passes, together with the Towing Paths, Banks, and Timber standing thereon, Locks and Lock Gates.

Also all that Piece of FREEHOLD LAND, situate between the Low Lock and the River Welland, in the parish of Deeping Saint James.

Lot 1 - All that part of the Canal extending from the first Gate east of Hudd's Mill to the River Gwash, in length 625 yards or thereabouts, bounded on the north and south by lands of the Marquis of Exeter, the west by other parts of the said Canal, and on the east by lot 2.

Lot 2 - A further part of the Canal extending from the eastern side ol the River Gwash to the east side of Uffington Stone Bridge, in length 2305 yards or thereabouts, bounded on the north and south by lands of the Earl of Lindsey. (Lot 2 will be sold subject to a right of Footway from Uffington Spinney to the Bridge over the road, crossing the present Canal, leading from Uffington to Barnack)

Lot 3 - A further part of the Canal extending from Uffington Stone Bridge to the fence at the bend of the Canal as staked out, including the 2 Lock Pens and Gates, in length 2006 yards or thereabouts, bounded on the north and south by land of the said Earl of Lindsey. (Lot 3 will also be sold subject to a right of Footway from Uffington Stone Bridge to the footpath in Tallington Meadow).

Lot 4 - A further part of the Canal as staked out, in length 245 yatds or thereabouts, commencing at the east end of the last lot, including the Lock Pen and Gates, bounded on the north by the Deeping and Morcott Turnpike Road, on the south and part of the west by lands of the said Earl of Lindsey.

Lot 5 - A further part of the Canal as staked out in length 100 yards or thereabouts, commencing at the east end of the last lot, bounded on the north by the said turnpike road, and on the south by lands of the said Earl of Lindsey.

Lot 6 - A further part of the Canal as staked out in length 100 yards or thereabouts, commencing at the east end of the last lot, bounded on the north by the said turnpike road, and on the south by lands of the said Earl of Lindsey.

Lot 7 - A further part of the Canal as staked out in length 100 yards or thereabouts, commencing at the east end of the last lot, bounded on the north by the said turnpike road, and on the south by lands of the said Earl of Lindsey.

Lot 8 - A further part of the Canal as staked out in length 100 yards or thereabouts, commencing at the east end of the last lot, bounded on the north by the said turnpike road, and on the south by lands of the said Earl of Lindsey.

Lot 9 - A further part of the Canal as staked out in length 100 yards or thereabouts, commencing at the east end of the last lot, bounded on the north by the said turnpike road, and on the south by lands of the said Earl of Lindsey.

Lot 10 - A further part of the Canal as staked out in length 160 yards or thereabouts, commencing at the east end of the last lot, bounded on the north by the said turnpike road, and on the south by lands of the said Earl of Lindsey.

Lot 11 - A further part of the Canal commencing from the east end of the last lot to the west end of lot 12, in length 147 yards or thereabouts. bounded on the north by the said turnpike road and on the estates of the said Earl of Lindsey, and on the south by the estates of Jos. Phillips. Esq. and Miss Molesworth.

Lot 12 - A further part of the Canal commencing from the east end of the last lot to the Tallington Stone Bridge, in length 147 yards or thereabouts, bounded on the north by the estates of the said Earl of Lindsey and Lord Chesham, on the south by the estates of Joseph Phillips, Esq., the said Earl of Lindsey, and Lord Chesham.

Lot 13 - A further part of the Canal extending from Tallington Stone Bridge aforesaid to the Foot Bridge in Tallington, in length 344 yards or thereabouts, bounded on the north and south by estates of the said Earl of Lindsey and Lord Chesham.

Lot 14 - A further part of the Canal extending from Tallington Foot Bridge aforesaid to the west side of the Great Northern Railway. including the Lock Pen and Gates, in length 448 yards or thereabouts bounded on the north by estates of the said Earl of Lindsey, and on the south by the road leading to Tallington Mill and land of the said Earl of Lindsey.

Lot 15 - A further part of the Canal extending from the west side of the said Great Northern Railway to West Deeping Bridge, including the Lock Pen and Gates, in length 1552 yards or thereabouts, bounded on the north by the lands of the Earl of Lindsey and the Crown, an occupation road, and property belonging to Mr. Sismore, and on the south by the estates of the said Earl of Lindsey, Mr. Seth Smith, and the Rector of West Deeping.

Lot 16 - A further part of the Canal extending from West Deeping Bridge to the Foot Bridge in West Deeping aforesaid, in length 201 yards or thereabouts, bounded on the north by the estates of the Rev. Dove Jones and Mr. Hetley, and on the south by the estates of Mrs. Addy and Mr. Seth Smith.

Lot 17 - A further part of the Canal extending from the said Foot Bridge in West Deeping to the west end of Lot 18, including the Lock Pen and Gates, in length 1415 yards or thereabouts, bounded on the north by lands of Mr. Hetley, Mr. Seth Smith and the Crown, and on the south by the lands of Mr. Hetley.

Lot 18 - A further part of the Canal extending from the east end of lot 17 to the west end of lot 19, including the Lock Pen and Gates, in length 676 yards or thereabouts, bounded on the north by Crown land and property of J.M.T. Molecey, Esq., and the said Deeping and Morcott Turnpike Road, and on the south by the land of J.M.T. Molecey, Esq.

Lot 19 - A further part of the Canal extending from the east end of lot 18 to the west end of lot 20, in length 421 yards or thereabouts, bounded on the north by the said turnpike road, and on the south by lands of the Feoffees of Market Deeping.

Lot 20 - A further part of the Canal extended from the east end of lot 19 to the west end of lot 21, in length 415 yards or thereabouts, bounded on the north by the said turnpike road and on the south by lands of the said Feoffees of Market Deeping.

Lot 21 - A further part of the Canal extending from the east end of lot 20 to the Tongue End in Market Deeping, including the Lock Pen and Gates, in length 345 yards or thereabouts, bounded on the north by the said turnpike road, and on the south by the estate of the said Feoffees of Market Deeping and property of I. Thorpe, Esq.

Lot 22 - All that Piece of Land lying between the River Welland and the Lower Locks, in the parish of Deeping Saint James, together with the Lower Lock, Pen & Gates.

Lot 23 - All that Lock Pen and Gates, known as 'Briggin Lock', in Deeping Saint James aforesaid, nearly opposite the Crown and Anchor Inn.

Lot 24 - All those Iron Sluice Doors and Frame Work and Masonry belonging thereto, as now fixed at the confluence of the River Gwash and the Canal, lying between lots 1 and 2.
